Beer

If necessity is the mother of invention, beer must be the father.  Many great ideas have been created while drinking a pint or two. ..or more.

Take this thermos, for example. Vacuum insulated,  this bad boy from Kauai Island brewing company will keep 700ml of your favourite brew cold for 3 days. While none of our "testing" lasted that long, my Cane Fire Red stayed as cold as it first was when it graced the mouth of this container,  while sitting in the hot sand on the beach.

Does it work for water? I'll pretend you never asked that.

Kauai island brewing company is also home to Leilani Light. Being a good father, I brought Leilani there with me so that I could buy a bottle and show her that someone had the foresight to name a beer after her.  Imagine my shock when they tell me they don't bottle it...

The bartender hands me the thermos filled with the nectar of good ideas and Leila catches me off guard by asking,"daddy is this my beer?" Rather than get swept up in the emotional gravitas of her question and try to answer with some mundane lesson about the economics of the bottling process, I do the right thing and focus on the American dream. I take a swig, look up to the rafters, look back down and proclaim, "Yes it is Leila and it is terrific." She flashes a huge smile of a successful mission and my candidacy for father of the year remains intact.
