Our first stop of the day was to the infamous Waimea Bay, Mandy's favourite. And for good reason.
It is massive, tons of beach space and beautiful.
This is also where Waimea Valley runs off its freshwater from the rain into the saltwater of the ocean. Remember that standing wave from a few years ago where people were surfing but remaining stationary? That was right here. I took the kids over to it and this is what it currently looked like.
Kind of underwhelming. In fact, in the above photo you can see a bride in her dress taking photos in the water because it's so calm. The kids liked the serenity of this docile river since they didn't have to constantly look over their shoulders for the next wave coming.
The sand gets really hot at Waimea, so we left for another beach. Rowyne really wanted to snorkel so we took her to Shark's Cove - an excellent place to check out a bunch of fish. Approximately 9 kids get attacked by sharks here annually but no adults, so I felt safe.
I kid...the number is much smaller than that. This is a great place to see all kinds of marine life and it was pretty shallow this time around, which made it a lot more challenging to float above the sharp stuff. On the other hand, it's right across from the Foodland so it was ideal for a lunch and a cold one.
We took a few steps over to 3 Tables again, where the girls spent more time underwater enjoying the sea life. Well, almost all of the girls.
Milena understands the importance of being rested and what better place to catch a few Zs than the beach? She woke up right on time to see Thomas and Karla - here on their honeymoon. We missed their wedding because we had already left for Maui but agreed to meet up here in paradise.
I was as giddy as could be to tell them everything I could about the islands. They had been here for only a day and a half and Thomas asked "how many times have you guys had the conversation about moving out here?" Yup, it's just that easy to get hooked in.
We had nobody near us to take the photo so we asked Ethan to do it - what could go wrong?
At least he got me in there, right?
Mandy took a few shots of us, just in case Ethan's didn't turn out.
They brought the kids some pineapple gummy bears which were absolutely delicious. Who knew?
We finished off a full day by heading to Backyards which is well, in our backyard. Everyone stops what they're doing to go and enjoy the sunset and it's easy to see why. I'm pretty sure Ethan is killin it on the air guitar here...most likely playing Thunderstruck, his favourite song.
We hit a bunch of beaches today and each one had something special. So awesome!
