If I'm already awake, do I need to stay woke?

The mornings have still been a little wacky around here. Kids falling asleep too early/late and then waking up crazy early has made it interesting by trying to read minds. Who is hungry? Who is thirsty? Who needs more rest? What do you mean you didn't want milk in your cereal that you just explicitly asked for?

It looks like my career change into a mind reader will be short lived.

This is how our morning started:

It is so awesome that all these kids wanna do is be at the beach. I tried to give Mandy and Jen some rest while these 4 ran around a bit and enjoyed the sunrise, but like all good ideas involving kids, that gets thrown to the wayside. Within minutes, they wanted to go back and eat breakfast. Who's parenting them?

Jen really wanted to hit a spot called Kamaole Beach park 3. Don't get it twisted, we wanted nothing to do with parks 1 and 2. Frankly, I could come up with some better names but at the time, I was still figuring out what I was going to eat for breakfast. And then it hit me - our friend Kamaole called dibs on a beach, then found a better one a little further and then an even better one further than that, so I don't blame him. This beach was beautiful. So much that the first thing Milena wanted to do was sprawl out and relax in the shade.
Not my first choice, but Milena does what she wants and while usually, that means chasing than retreating from the ocean's waves, this time it was more low key. Which reminds me, Milena's therapists suggest that we have her walking on uneven surfaces. Challenge accepted.
There might have been a point when she looked up at me with a "WTF" kind of face.

Ethan caught too much sun and just wanted to chill, so we went to town, bought a die cast Hummer with a surfboard and he played with it for about 4 hours straight.
In this photo, I think he's telling me about the regrets of buying a Hummer and not a police car because the police car has lights. Either that, or complaining about his concern for lack of remaining bananas in the house.

After a day on the beach, the girls couldn't wait to get home to, well, go swimming in the pool. A few cannonballs are a great way to end off the day. Big strides made by both Ethan and Milena over these first few days - this time, Milena showing off more of her independence.
We hit our local beach for the sunset. We can't really see it since there's an island in the way, but we asked the kids to stand nicely for a beautiful sunset photo. This is what we got. One day, I'll understand parenting nuances and what you should and should not say to kids.

Further proof of kids being kids. In hindsight, having them stand straight wouldn't reflect their total party vibes anyway, so this exactly what we needed.

And yes, even on the beach, Ethan had made a track for the Hummer to rip along, finding surf spots along the way.
