I love coconuts and while it would be a challenge, I could live off of them.
The day started with a stop at my favourite fruit stand where we picked up some coconut and starfruit. Drinking from a coconut is one of the most refreshing things around and this time was no different (although Rowyne would disagree, as her face shows here).
One of the beaches we found the last time we were here was at Malaekahana State Park. There's a lot of debris washed up on shore, but the waves are soft and fun to play in. This is where Leila really started to have fun in the water the last time around.
Not this time, though. Leila has gotten rattled by thinking and talking about tsunamis, volcanoes and earthquakes, so she is on high alert for everything and became a little scared to go in the water. Wait till I tell her about all the bugs!
Ethan has been the opposite and has been in the water non-stop. He decided that he would start surfing using a boogie board. Not the most successful venture but I love the spirit.
We headed into Haleiwa to do a it of shopping and most importantly, enjoy some shave ice at Matsumoto's.
We hit one final beach called 3 Tables for our final spot for the day. Ethan led the way with his surfing attempts.
Most importantly, Leila started returning to her old (?) self and overcoming her fear of the water. How? By seeing fish underwater, of course! This area is great for snorkeling and after seeing a few of them, we could barely keep Leila above water. Great success!
